Hi, everyone. My name is Natalie, and today Veritas Health is bringing you hamstring stretches for back pain relief. The first stretch I'm going to show you is a hamstring stretch along a wall. You will lie along a wall or a doorjamb with one leg straight against the wall. You will give yourself a little bit of pressure at your knee until you feel a gentle stretch along the back of your thigh. You should hold this stretch for up to 30 seconds, working up to three times on each side.
The next stretch for your hamstrings that I will show you, will be performed sitting on a chair. You will sit on the edge of your chair, you will place one leg in front of you, keeping your back straight, lean forward at your hips until you feel a gentle stretch through the back of your thigh. You can hold the stretch for up to 30 seconds, performing three times on each side.
The next hamstring stretch that I'll show you for back pain relief can be performed lying on your back. You will lie on your back on either the bed or the floor, and you will use a towel behind your thigh. If you do not have a towel available, you can just place your hands around the thigh. Use a towel to support your thigh as you try to extend on your knee as far as you can comfortably, aiming to get your foot parallel with the ceiling. Hold the stretch for up to 30 seconds, performing three times on each leg. If you have any pain or discomfort with the stretch, please consult with your medical provider.
