Rajesh G. Arakal, MD joined the Texas Back Institute as a Spine Surgeon. Dr. Arakal is fellowship trained in Spinal Surgery from Baylor College of Medicine and the Texas Medical Center in Houston, specializing in cervical, thoracic and lumbar pathology. Dr. Arakal graduated from a highly competitive accelerated 7- year combined program in the state of New Jersey with Bachelor in Science from the College of New Jersey and Doctorate in Medicine from The New Jersey Medical School with a state and college scholarship.
Dr. Arakal completed an internship in General Surgery and a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He was awarded the Gold Foundation Award from Columbia University for Humanism in Medicine and Excellence in Residency Teaching. Dr. Arakal was the recipient of many awards but most recently, Dr. Arakal has been nominated as a Fellow in the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Arakal currently serves as the Spine Consultant for the Michael Johnson Athletic Performance Center at Craig Ranch, Lead surgeon at the Scoliosis Center at Medical Center of Plano, a sub-investigator for the Advent Cervical Disc arthroplasty study and the co-investigator for the Intradiscal regeneration study with Johnson & Johnson.
