David Skaggs, MD

David Skaggs, MD, is director of the Spine Center, executive vice chair of Orthopaedics and director of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Cedars-Sinai and Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s. He is renowned for his expertise in the treatment of children with spinal deformity and trauma. In addition to publishing over 250 peer-reviewed papers and delivering over 750 national and international lectures, he has designed five lines of spinal implants and developed numerous surgical techniques that have been adopted worldwide.

Neel Anand, MD

Neel Anand, MD, is co-medical director of Spine Trauma Surgery and professor of Orthopaedics at Cedars-Sinai. A pioneer in minimally invasive techniques for spinal surgery, he has particular expertise in artificial disc replacement, complex spine revisions, motion preservation and spinal deformity and scoliosis. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals such as Spine, Journal of Spinal Disorders, Journal of Orthopedic Trauma and the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

Andrew Bach, DO

Andrew Bach, DO, is a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist at Cedars-Sinai. He obtained his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Wayne State University School of Medicine. A longtime chronic back pain patient, Bach worked with a nonoperative spine specialist and was able to cure his pain without surgery.

Hyun Bae, MD

Hyun Bae, MD, is co-medical director of Spine Education and professor of Orthopaedics at Cedars-Sinai. A trailblazer in using state-of-the-art medical devices and innovative techniques for minimally invasive spine surgery and dynamic stabilization, he led the way in using growth factor tissue engineering for intervertebral discs and is a pioneer in multilevel artificial disc replacement for the cervical and lumbar spine. His work has received prestigious grant funding from the National Institutes of Health.

Kenneth Illingworth, MD

Kenneth Illingworth, MD, is director of Pediatric Orthopaedic Trauma and assistant professor of Orthopaedics, Pediatrics and Neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai and Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s. His areas of expertise include congenital scoliosis, early-onset scoliosis, fractures and kyphosis. He earned his medical degree at the University of Tennessee-Health Science Center College of Medicine. He completed his residency at Southern Illinois University, followed by fellowships at University of Pittsburgh and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Sang Do Kim, MD

Sang Do Kim, MD, is a spine surgery specialist and assistant professor of Orthopaedics at Cedars-Sinai. He is widely recognized for his expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques and major-deformity spinal surgeries. His practice includes the diagnosis and treatment of spinal conditions such as sciatica, back pain, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, scoliosis, spinal tumors and fractures. A graduate of Harvard Medical School, he completed his orthopedic residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedics Program, which is jointly offered by Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess and Boston Children’s Hospital.

Terrence Kim, MD

Terrence Kim, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon, co-medical director of Spine Education and associate professor of Orthopaedics at Cedars-Sinai. He specializes in cervical, thoracic and lumbar disorders of the spine; degenerative disorders; spinal trauma; adult and pediatric deformity; minimally invasive surgery; cervical and lumbar disc arthroplasty; motion-preservation technology; and spinal surgery with image guidance and computer-assisted navigation. He completed his fellowship in spinal surgery at Cedars-Sinai.

Christopher Mikhail, MD

Christopher Mikhail, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Cedars-Sinai. He is focused on healing complex spinal pathologies, including spinal deformities, spinal tumors, thoracic disc herniations and craniocervical junction pathologies. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals of both orthopedic and neurological spine surgery. He completed his residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, followed by a fellowship at Columbia University.

Tiffany Perry, MD

Tiffany Perry, MD, is assistant professor of Neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai. A graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, she completed fellowships at Duke University Medical Center and the Cleveland Clinic, ultimately becoming the first female neurosurgeon to join Cedars-Sinai’s staff. Each year, she joins a collaborative team of physicians, nurses and others on a medical mission to Uganda to teach local doctors how to perform complex spinal surgeries.

Wouter Schievink, MD

Wouter Schievink, MD, is director of the Microvascular Neurosurgery Program and professor of Neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai. His research focuses on the outcomes of complex cerebrovascular surgery and syndromes of spontaneous intracranial hypotension and cerebrospinal fluid leaks, as well as extracellular matrix proteins in intracranial aneurysms and cervicocephalic arterial dissections and models of intracranial aneurysms. He attended the University of Amsterdam Medical School before completing his residency at the Mayo Clinic and a fellowship at the Barrow Neurological Institute.

Joseph Schwab, MD

Joseph Schwab, MD, is director of spine oncology and director of the Center for Surgical Technology and AI Research at Cedars-Sinai. An internationally recognized leader in the diagnosis and treatment of complex orthopedic and spinal oncology conditions, he provides expert care for patients with challenging spine disorders and advances the development of innovative AI and predictive algorithmic applications for complex spine and musculoskeletal oncology care.

Alexander Tuchman, MD

Alexander Tuchman, MD, is an assistant professor of Neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai and an expert in spinal surgery. He has published and lectured widely on subjects ranging from spinal deformity correction to cervical stenosis. He completed his residency at Los Angeles County Medical Center (LAC+USC), followed by fellowships at Keck Medicine of USC and Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

Corey Walker, MD

Corey Walker, MD, is an assistant professor of Neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai. He is a leader in the minimally invasive correction of complex spinal deformities using next-generation robotics and navigation technologies. He has published more than 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals and written 10 textbook chapters. He completed fellowships in complex and minimally invasive spine pathologies at the Barrow Neurological Institute, followed by orthopedic spinal fellowship training at the Scripps Clinic in San Diego through the San Diego Spine Foundation.
