HELP/Arm Pain issues

Before my Cervical Surgery and Lumbar surgery I had pain in my right arm. I did have a test done and they determined I have nerve damage in that arm. Since surgery my arm has gotten worse. I am on Vicodin, Neurontin, Flexeril and Relafen. Its not helping with the arm pain, not sure what to do, the pain specialist checked my arm and said its gotten weaker are there any treatments that may help that anyone could recommend?

  • Hi Laurie Ann -

I would ask your Doc about a prescription for Lyrica...since it's believed to be a more effective med than Neurontin with less side-affects as well. Lyrica when taken along with my usual narcotic pain med has worked wonderfully for me to relieve the nerve pain in my shoulder, arm and hand.

The only issue is, there's no generic available and even an insurance co-pay could cost you anwhere from $20 to $50 for a one-month supply (usually 60 capsules).

    Best wishes!
  • I use heat on my arm when it's sore as well as an elbow support with magnets. I've also had cortisone injections in my elbow and even tried accupunture. Myofascial release has helped also. I agree lyrica may help more but now I'm also taking Cymbalta. Always support the arm and have a desk chair with arms and support the arm with a pillow. Good luck and I hope the pain decreases.
