I had my results today, I have a large bulge on the left-hand side of L5-S1, along with the nerves being 'trapped' (not necessarily by the disc).

A couple of years ago I had surgery to the right side of the same level and now the other side is collapsing.

The consultant has said it is pretty big and therefore I am not a candidate for those lovely injections (phew, didn't fancy that anyway). So I am on the waiting list for another flipping discectomy/foramenectomy/laminectomy.

Oh and on top of that he has noticed some disc fragments floating around in my neck (they obviously didn't do a good enough job of cleaning it out following the ACDF last year).

I'm so fed-up, I know plenty of you have had more ops than I have but come on guys I was hoping for a year off. This is op number 4 in 3 years ............ I'm sick of it.

Moan over!

Sad Grumpy Doofie

  • sorry to hear about the MRI results. You really deserve a break.Have you tried Physiotherapy or oral steroids?
A second MicroD could take you that much closer to a fusion.Maybe you should discuss this with your doc.Save
    yourself a surgery....
Don't be sad and grumpy. It will get better.

  • Doof - Hang in there. I know what you mean about needing a year without surgery. Your body doesn't get a chance to ever be normal!!! Terri
  • Sorry to hear this Doof. You can join me in feeling a bit like Roseanne Roseannadanna. It's always SOMETHING! I hope they manage to clean things up for you in short order and you get that couple of years without needing another procedure!

    3 level spinal fusion, L3/4, L4/5, L5/S1, November 2008. Stiff, but I can walk.
