i had SCS trial and it was painful to be put in more so than normal, because the higher the Dr fed the lead the tighter/ narrower the spine became. he almost stopped , but made it scs trial was fantastic, but he said he needs to do a MRI on this area to see whats going on before he place the real paddles having the laminectomy kind.. mow i look this up on the web , and found the only reason the upper middle of your spine would be compressed is cancar tumors YIKES.. what is this all about the dr did not say that.now i have worked myself up in to frezny if you will drama here sorry.please some one tell me you can have compression in that area and not have tumors, Oh some one please shut my mind up it is 4 am and i can slepp again worry worry .. thanks for listen .. sorry to be a baby,i know ask the dr .. but i dont want him to know i am werid..thank you

  • Hi Granny,

:H You are not weird 8} and your doctor will not think so -- after all the years he's been a surgeon, I'm sure he's heard everything -- so please, ask away.

The one thing the internet is good for is also the worst thing for people seeking medical advice -- too much information, leaving us in a state of panic wondering if we have some dreaded disease.

My guess is your doctor needs the MRI so that he has a "visual" so to speak of your spine when he goes to insert the leads for the permanent SCS. If you don't want to wait to ask him, call and leave a message for his nurse and she can get the information you need and call you back. Believe me, you're not the first patient to call looking for information.

I'm sure others will post to support you also. Take care and think of the positive benefits of the SCS. It's so easy for our minds to go to the negative (I'm guilty of that myself.).
