Topomax for Nerve Pain?

Has anyone ever been prescribed Topomax for nerve pain? I don't like the side effects of Lyrica and Neurontin.

  • I know Topamax is used for migraines. It is in the same class of drugs as gabapentin and Lyrica, so one would think it might work. It has fairly severe side effects as well, so it may not be any better for you than Neurontin and Lyrica.

Some people have some luck with Cymbalta...and my pm doc said the SNRIs all work the same way, so Effexor and other SNRIs might work, too. Again, nasty side effects, though.

I gave up on taking meds for nerve pain. Nothing I tried made much of a difference.

Good luck in your search. Hope you find something that helps.
