I've injuired my neck in the gym lifting heavy weights,
possible nerve impingment?
The injury occurred on the 2nd of June 2009. I was training my triceps and felt a sudden pain in the back of my neck. I noticed gradual muscle atrophy on my right side after a week (front triceps, shoulder, chest and lats) I got some control over my right pac(chest, but my front right tricpes and right lats feels weak, I still haven't got 100% control over them. The right upper back feels hyper flexible compared to my left, it feels like extra movement over the right back. My left side is 100% power and control (normal).
I've been seen the ortho and quoted after seeing the MRI's "there is no structural problem seen on the MRI scan either in the posterior fossa or in the spine itself. I suspect that he has given himself a temporary neuroplaxia to his C6 and C7 nerve roots on the right with hyperextention of his neck in doing the triceps exercises. No intervention is required and I expect his dysaesthesia and weakness to graduually resolve over the next three months or so". end quote
I just got the results today, i had the injurie four months ago, any help would be appricated thanks? Do you think it's the correct diagnosis? Why the hyper flexibility on the upper right back? Any help or ideas would be helpful.
