Problems 6 months after surgery

I had lumbar fusion on March 30th of this year, and was doing ok, I had pain, but nothing like what it was before the surgery, I still have problems with weakness in my right foot I rehabed, walked and walked some more, once in a while my right leg would just give out and I would fall, I continued to work on my bowflex, doing leg lifts and core strength excercises, but would still have the problem with my right leg just "going away" on me and down I would go. I have weakness in my right foot, cant lift it up all the way, the doctor says about a 3 out of 5, I went back to work as a concrete truck driver and lasted 2 days, the bouncing and pounding tore me up bad, and now my falling has become more frequent, sometimes I get an incredible pain when i step down with my right foot and other times i dont, My doctor has taken me back out of worka for 3 more monhs and has me getting a MOFO brace for my right foot, I was just wondering if anyone could share anything with me about this, if you have a similar condition? It almost seems like I am going backwards, I have been re xrayed and all is fine, fusion looks good, but I am getting to the point where I can only get releif laying down,Is this a comon thing or am I just trying to do too much too soon thanks in advance for the replies

  • Hi, Thanks for replying to my post. I can't even imagine driving truck! I had a 4 level lumbar fusion on Sept. 8th. I hit a little pothole riding in our pickup and every cuss word comes out! What did you have done as far as surgery? Lumbar fusions and sitting do not go well together. I'm 50 years old and worked construction all my life. I had 4 surgeries total on both shoulders and had to make a job change. Now I have a mostly sitting job and the back goes!!
I walk every day which helps a lot but i do still get pain in buttocks, hips, and thighs. As far as the financial part of recovering let's PM each other. Take care, get well and I'll keep in touch.
