I have had chronic back pain for three years now. I initially hurt it snowboarding. I am in the Army. They teach you to "suck it up and drive on", so I went to a school for my promotion when I still had pain. Ever since then things got worse. To make a long story short: I first had an MRI that only showed a bulged disc, went a year without any doc belieiving me (while getting worse), my father's friend (he's a spine specialist) read my MRI in Feb 2008 saying I had severe issues that needed to be addressed. The report got ignored. I got sent to pain management, physcial therapy, and did prolotherapy as well. Feb 2009 I got placed in a medical unit because the severity of my condition increased. I finally saw a spine specliast Oct of 2009 who refused to touch me (my L5/S-1 is herniated and most likely causing all my problems) and sent me back to pain management. He diagnosed me piriformis syndrome, left SI joint inflammation, and the disc problem. Since then I've had and injection in my left SI joint and am pending injections in my L4 & L5 facet joints. I suffer every single day. I can't drive because sitting is the worst and people just don't understand. It's so refreshing to join this forum knowing I will be able to talk to people who know what I'm going through. I'm happy to be here :)

  • You've certainly been through the wringer. You will find very supportive people here who know exactly what you're going through.
Be sure to check out all the links at the top of the page, plus the FAQ's section. It's also helpful to read through the announcements forum at the very bottom to get an idea of how things work.
There are some resident walking medical text books here who can point you in the right direction to research the injections as well.
Take care and see you around the forums.
