Not totally sure if this is the right forum to put this, but it seemed to "fit the bill" I guess? Okay here we go...
In times past, my GP refilled my parking permit for a temporary handicap parking permit. Okay, I was fine with that for the most part. Most times I use it when the places I want to go are filled, or I "used most of my spoons" for the day. My last appointment, I was changed to permanent.
It didn't really "hit" me until later that day... My hubby took me from what I though was a couple of hours to many, many hours of activities at different stores - I was fading fast on the walking department. We go to Walmart of all places, full parking as usual, so my hubby pulls into the handicap parking - "You have the permit, right?" "Yep, here ya go." Then I just sat there. My hubby came around and opened the door to help me out.
He got a little concerned as I was (to him) staring straight ahead, and softly crying. (sniffling now as I type this). I told him as I sniffled a little louder, I was looking at the date of my now "ex" temporary tag... 2014 (in Florida they are renewed every 4 years)... He looked at it, and at first didn't get it. He said, "Okay, no biggie, lets finish up, and we're done shopping." I just stayed there and stared at that date. Is it me, or the change from "temp" to "Perm" ever bugged any of you?
Sorry, don't sniffle much, but this has been umm...bugging me a little bit. I had this when I had to retire, but this was different. Thanks for listening.
