Hi there everyone.

I'm sorry we are all here. I am glad to find a place for support, though.

I was searching the internet to learn more about the Toradol injection I got today (which worked wonders for my pain!!) and this website popped up. I read and then I read some more. I wanted to smack myself in the head. I've been dealing with this for 16 years and have been on the internet forever and not once did I think to find a forum for back pain. I'm on tons of forums and I never thought to find one like this. What a dope!

Anyway, my story is down there in my signature. I had surgery in 2001 and six months later the pain returned. I lost my insurance and have literally not had it until this last November. My doc is awesome and has been so very helpful. I tried physical therapy for 4 weeks. The poor PT told me that I ended up worse then when I began the pt.

Then I went for my MRI and of course they found damage in the exact spot where I'd had surgery in 2001. It was a bit of a relief in a way to hear there was damage. How many times over the year have I given in and gone to the ER to get relief and was told to go swimming or that it was all in my head or lose weight and deal with it? So much frustration.

I have an appointment to see the same neurosurgeon I had 10 years ago. I know he is going to want me to lose weight before surgery, which is just fine with me, because I am less then two months away from Gastric Bypass surgery. My doc wants me to put it off and have back surgery first. I disagree and will not put it off. When I've lost 100lbs, I will be able to handle a surgery so much better. Not to mention that losing all that weight will benefit my back and the rest of my body.

I just realized how long this is. I hope somebody makes it through this.

I hope to make some friends and support you all!

I've had...who am I kidding...Have...a real struggle with depression...even before this chronic pain stuff entered my life.
When I finally realized I needed more that just meds and occassional therapy, I, too, searched the internet.
This is absolutely the best site that I have found.
So, I too say, "Hi" and "Welcome". :)
I don't know how this works...sharing our stories.. and lives with each other..but it has really helped me find a safe place and people who care... and it helps me.
I'm not going to analyze it. :)
Best of luck to you and keep in touch! :)
