Questions about what to ask and expect for first post operative doc appointment. What were some of the considerations you and your doctor discussed regarding going to work. . I am seeing my doc thurs, 7/7 and wonder what I should be asking or listening for him to say. I work in a school as an administrator with middle school kids. School is out but I can't really focus with the meds and the pain to go to work now.

  • I have my first post op appointment tomorrow (fri). I had my surgery about a week after yours.

How many levels did you have done?

The Dr. does not care when you go back to work. He/she won't "make" you go back until you are comfortable.

Another surgery in the near future. I am 26 years old.

Current Meds- Norco 7.5/325, Cymbalta 60mg, Gabapentin, Adderall 20mg
  • Usually the first appointment post surgery is for x-rays and to check the placement of the hardware they put in, and see how your doing. Returning to work can be different for everyone. Some have gone back as soon as a week while others might go back at 10 weeks, it just depends on your individual recover and how your doing. The one thing I can suggest to you is to walk and when you think you have walked enough walk some more. Good luck on the appointment and let us know how it goes.
