Synovial Cyst L4-5

I am a very active 52 year old that had a decompression and synovial cyst removed from my L4-5 three weeks ago. I am on lifting and bending restrictions for 6 weeks. No exercise for 1 month except for walking.
I am trying to find information about what type of exercises will be ok after one month. I would like to get back to some core workouts but not sure when I can start with that. Any suggestions?

  • Your doctor/surgeon didn't give you any suggestions? A lot of times after back surgery especially, the surgeons send us to PT. If he isn't, maybe you can ask for some just to get you 're-started' in the proper methods for exercise.

That is the route I would go - ask the surgeon what is best, safest, and more likely to achieve your desired results. Please let us know how it goes.

    PCTF C4 - T2, Laminectomies C5, C6 & C7. Severe Palsy left arm/hand.
  • I was interested in your recent surgery as I have just come from the Neurosurgeons Office with the same basic DX. I have to have X-Rays tomorrow to see if I also have spondylolisthesis. If so, I apparently need Decompression cyst removal with spine fusion surgery... How long were you off work? What is your prognosis? I'm a 54 year old femals, and have suffered this for 5 months. I have a very trustworthy surgeon, but am very nervous. Thanks you.
