foot drop etc

developed severe sciatica august 2010. this progressed to foot drop and didn't respond to treatment. had discectomy october 2010, but still no movement in left lower leg and foot. no real pain relief following surgery and recently the movement I had is diminishing. pretty worried about this and have been waiting for repeat MRI etc for 9 months. does anyone know what my chances of recovery or best options for treatment might be? have been doing physio, and very fit and supple prior to onset of sciatica. now I can't sit, lift or walk for any distance. also now getting contractures, like cramp, where my big toe on the affected rises involuntarily to a vertical position.
