Chronic Upper Back Muscle Pain- now spreading all over

I'm a 32 year old man. For the past 2 years I have been dealing with extremely tight muscles in my upper back. I never had any kind of back problems until shortly after a traumatic emotional experience- after I found out my wife was having an affair and left me. It was a week or two after this I began having pain in the middle of my upper back just below my shoulder blades. I was informed that emotional stress can lead to myofascial pain syndrome. Long story short- it is now over 2 years later and I'm still dealing with the pain and it keeps getting worse. I have no health insurence and I have been denied any help through Assistance programs. I've been to a physical therapist for masssage and trigger point release and it did provide very short term relief from the pain- about 4- 5 hours after each session. I haven't been to physical therapy for over a year because I was paying out of pocket and can not afford it. I've tried muscle relaxers, streching, heating pads and nothing has realy helped. It's to the point that I just don't want to move. I want to just lay down and sleep all the time.

I need some insight on what I can do or try to get my back to loosen up. Suggestions on exercises or anything really. Thanks to anyone who reads this. And special thanks for any suggestions.
