Need advices for good physical therapist in Chicago!

Hello everybody,

I am a very healthy person, and this is the first time that I was in so much pain...
Here is a short summary of my story:
It has been 4 years that I have one episode of back pain every winter for 3-4 days, and then it goes away... The pain felt like muscle spams...
Last Thursday, I had one of those episodes but on Sunday my pain was improving and not that bad. I went to the grocery shop and when lifting one bag, I felt a sharp and violent pain in my back! I went back home with difficulties, took some ibuprofen (800 mg) and went to bed.
The day after, I couldn't move and stand up... I was so much in pain, HORRIBLE! I had to crawl on the floor to the kitchen to get some ibuprofen (800 mg). I went to see my doctor with this severe pain, he gave me Prednisone which helped me a lot, and advised me X-Rays and MRI.
MRI results showed :
-A mild annular bulging of the disc at L4-5
-Annular bulging of the disc at L5-S1 with small protrusion of the disc material.
I can't go to work until January 21st and need physical therapy...
My brother had the same condition and he ended up getting surgery, and I want to avoid that!!!
I am looking for a good physical therapist expert in DDD so all your advices, experiences are very welcome...

I am French and have a hard time to understand the healthcare system here. Is it better to go to the hospital for physical therapy or other small businesses... How to make sure that you are treated by experts???

Thanks for your help!!!!

  • You should ask your doctor who he refers you to , Many doctors have pt in the same building there office is,
Some Pain specialists have pt also in same building or close by who they refer there people to after injections,

I am on south suburbs of chicago so most doctors i seen work with pt facility they recomend and pt report back to them on progress ,

You might find 1 that close to your location so which ever doctor you are seeing just ask who they recomend,

Chicago area is huge so you have pt facility every area of the city and you dont want to go far if not needed ,

    Good luck,

  • He advised me "Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers" but it doesn't look safe to me... I know there are lots of crappy medical businesses here so I don't want to be treated by someone who has no knowledge in DDD. I may be wrong but I don't know how to make sure to get good services.

What do you think of those businesses?

What do you think of Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago?

    Thanks for your help!
