antibiotics for back pain

edited 11/08/2013 - 7:34 AM in Chronic Pain
Has anyone heard or tried antibiotics for back pain. There was a new study that came out.

I just started this treatment last Friday (11/1/2013). I've had no relief yet but its still early. I'm wondering what my expectations should be comparing to other peoples results. Anything beats fusion. If this doesnt work im going to try the spinal cord stimulator.

  • my dad died form a staph infection in his back about 30 years ago. they thought it was a pulled muscle then they found out too late. i also had a staph infection in my back after a fusion and was given antibiotics but they are used for infections, not for a problem with herniated disc. one can see infections on an mri. that is how mine was found. since my family has a history, then they treated me ASAP.
I have 4 fusions from L5-3, the latest last May '12 where they fixed my disc that broke. They went through my side this time. I take 40 mg of oxycontin 4x a day and 4 fenatyl lollipops 300 micro gms 4x a day.
