I am a 57 year old woman with a history of scoliosis; harrington rod D2 through L2 in 1975. In March of 2010 I had unbearable low back pain caused by herniated and bulging disks. All conservative measure failed resulting in TLIF July 2012. The surgeon chose allograft along with pedicle screws and cage L5/S1.
May 2013 my feet started getting numb which has progressed to a leaden feeling both legs. The CT scan Dec 8 showed non-union/fusion however there is no nerve impingement. Also L3/L4 is bulging with increased degenerative disease.Saw my surgeon 12-31-13 who finally acknowledged that there is some fusion but very little and recommended a bone stimulator. Told me to come back in 3 months.
I have significant lower back pain and cannot lay flat or sit for long periods.
I am looking for recommendations - thinking of second opinion..What happens with cadaver bone since there is no fusion? Stability of fusion?.Surgeon says everything is okay.
