My daughter has scoliosis, she is 22 now and it was first diagnosed when she was 14. She has today been to the hospital to see someone as she says she keeps getting the shakes, quite badly at times it seems. She no longer lives at home so I only know what she tells me. The hospital today have said that operating is not necessary unless she is unhappy for cosmetic reasons and have told her to go back to her GP for referral to the pain clinic? From the outside she appears to look reasonably normal, she has always ridden horses which seems to have kept her posture upright but she does have curves in the region of 46degrees and her rib cage and shoulder is pronounced on one side, she is almost 6ft tall.
So my question is: what is causing the shakes? she says they vary from mild to quite bad where people are now starting to notice and wonder if there is something wrong with her. What medication are they likely to suggest and is this an ongoing condition or will it eventually go away?
I'm so worried about her, she's had a tough time for the last few years, losing her Dad during her school exams etc and whilst she is an adult now and lives with her partner I wish I could help her to cope more. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
