Cervical DDD c2-c7, Osteoarthritis, lumbar DDD, Chronic Back Pain since Teen

I already posted in another section, but decided I should introduce myself. I am a very active 39 yr old woman with 6 kids, aged 22-2! I have been suffering from chronic back pain since I was a teenager. I was thrown from a few horses as a kid, and as I was completely fearless (should have been a boy), I did some other really stupid things.

Over the years, have experienced neurological symptoms intermittently...i.e. numbness, burning, stabbing, cervogenic headaches...etc. Last Thanksgiving however, I had a significant flare-up of symptoms. When both my hands became numb to the point of being unable to feel anything at all, I was finally given a cervical MRI. Since, I have also had a lumbar MRI, which showed a painful large annular tear, but nothing else.

The cervical MRI showed DDD throughout, c2-c7, With small disc herniations at c3-c4, c4-c5, c6-c7, and a large disc extrusion at c5-c6 causing significant cord compression. There is also general osteoarthritis, and osteophyte formation bi-laterally throughout.

As I was still functioning fairly well at the time of the MRI, we tried physical therapy, which actually made me feel just awful. I was hoping the symptoms would improve, and the disc would absorb, but unfortunately I have had worsening neurological symptoms. Shooting pains in arms, legs, down back, hyperreflexia (to the point if my foot gets brushed against my leg jerks violently), pins/needles in my feet and legs as well as my arms, fasciculations, and pain of all types (burning, stabbing, deep aching). My limbs are very heavy, and I find it difficult and exhausting to do everyday activities.

A year ago, I was lifting weights, and could easily run a 5k in 21-22minutes as a 38 yr old woman. Now going for a leisurely
stroll is tiring and my muscles burn.

So, I am looking at surgery. I am being considered as a candidate for the new M6 cervical trial, and I am also seeing a wonderful neurosurgeon through my Ins. I am considering all my options, but know something needs to be done soon to avoid permanent nerve damage.

Thanks for reading!
