I've had TMJ pain before, from having dental work done. Don't recall exactly how long it took the pain to subside, just that it took longer than I thought it should. I received chiropractic treatment, and took ibuprofen for inflammation. I would probably be uncomfortable letting a chiropractor mess with neck after an accident though, even after an okay MRI.
