Hi, im new, of course. I had a Rhizotomy on July 30. i was told that i'd be in pain a few days. It seems that as i read more and more, this back surgery is pretty serious. Seems it can take 3 months to heal. After all 3 nerves being severed. Has anyone had one of these procedures and if so, could you tell me how it was for you and how long the discomfort lasted. Im on 150mg mscontin a day, plus the nurse gave me a script for 60 vicoden plus refill. Was that my red flag that this wanna gonna be more painful that i thought. I feel a little deceived on the recovery time. Please anyone with info, i'd love you and really appreciate your info.

God bless, Gloria :?

  • Hi Gloria....I've had 2 rhizotomies. Both were for SI joint pain, as well as L4-5, S1. Both times it has taken about 30 days for the pain to subside.

In my case, I think my injury had gone on longer than it should have, and I probably dont get as much success from the proceedure, usually only get about 4-6 weeks reduction of pain. It was told to me that patients can hope to get 1 year of relief. I hope you are one of those.
Also I have the SI joint issues, which thru the resources and info on the terrific site, they are very hard to find the pain transmitting nerves.Lucky me...Huh! :O Best of luck to you from me.
