Foot Drop Definition

Foot drop refers to a weakening of the muscles that allow the ankles and toes to flex, thus resulting in dragging the foot while walking. To compensate for this scuffle, individuals will bend the knee to lift the foot higher than usual.

Foot drop is not a disease but a symptom of some other medical problem, possibly from disc herniation, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, or bone fractures or lacerations in the lumbar spine (lower back).
