Recovery with pain at 3 level ACDF and restrictions

My surgeon is a bit far and I am not always getting responses of my questions.

1) Did any of you had pain after getting rid of color.

2) What kind of activities are allowed after 6 or 8 weeks. When can people do activities like running? Or dancing? 6 months? 3 months?

3) Did you go through pain and when fusion happened upper body pain subsided?

MRI shows C4-C7 severe steonosis. Pain in hand.

  • Hey Sukhre!

    1) - yes.  Your muscles aren't used to supporting your head anymore.  I slowly weaned off of mine.  1/2 hour first day, 1 hour day after that for a few days, etc.

    2) It depends on your doctor's preferences.  I was told no running or anything high impact like that for 6 mos or longer, depending on how you're doing.  Anything that jars the body/spinal cord.  Walking is it.

    3) The pain I think is from overdoing it, quite often.  You first have to heal, and that causes pain. Then you feel good on a good day, and get painful again.  Muscle relaxants are a big key to comfort, so many people are only given opioids/Tylenol.

    Hope you start feeling better!
