ALIF spinal fusion and leg pain

Hi I'm new to this and just had spinal fusion about 2 months ago (Jan 25 '17), just curious how other recovery went. I don't know what to expect, my surgeon was amazing but doesn't really specify on what to expect after surgery, hell he wants me to start running and hiking but I'm in so much pain after a successful surgery, curious if this is normal.

Also last yr when I found out I had a herniated disc, my right leg, mainly behind the thigh, is in so much pain I can't sit for longer than 15 mins, can't walk without black out pain, sleeping is rough, 7 tests and they still don't know what it is, anyone had this problem? They say it might be my sciatica but after a whole yr and surgery it should've been better, but its the same, can't even go out to dinner without horrid pain...

  • Hi KirbyCakes

    Welcome to Spine-health

I think you will find our Surgery Buddies groups a help.  These are under Forum Topics and just add a comment to join in.

More information about the level of your fusion and medication will give members more information to respond to.

I have added two links below to help new members with information and these also contain the forum rules.  There is lots of material to research that will give you the power of knowledge.

    Welcome to Spine Health
