Hello all..
Im a 27 year old female that was very fit and healthy until the past 3 years!
I have wrote a few posts in different sections to try and understand the results of my mri scan a bit better so i really hope somebody can help me please.
I was in a car accident 4 yrs back and at the time the drs said i had severe whiplash to my neck and thoractic spine and i was given a collar to wear.
Well things have just got so bad especially over the past 2 years as i have been in agony with my neck and thoratic spine and also suffered from scatica. Also i have had muscle spasms in my spine, tingling and burning in neck, face and legs.
I was first sent to a neurologist at first and i have had nerve tests and 5 brain mri scans over the past 3 yrs and they are all normal so i was sent to a spinal and othepedic surgeon and they arranged for me to have mri scans on my neck, thoratic, lumber spine and hips. The results came through and the hips showed i had problems with the joint ect so this could explain the sciatica type symptoms. The lumber spine was normal but the cervical spine at c4 level i had a herniated disc and in the thoractic spine the t6,t7,t8 and t9 discs where very darkened and narrowed and buldging.I have had 2 different opinions as one dr said the discs were because on osteochrondiritis change??? and the other one thought it was damage by the car accident.
Can someone please tell me or advise me if this could be ddd as i have read that ddd does cause darkened and narrowed discs..Also i get very tired and fatigue easily and have viral type symptoms at times.

Any help would be fantastic please and thankyou so much xxx

  • hi welcome!
of course we cannot give you a diagnosis on your MRI.
changes in the spine as we age are normal.
you mentioned tired/fatigue and viral symptoms.
that in my personal opinion needs to be checked out.
through blood work through your primary dr or even a rheumotologist.

tingling/numbing/burning in your face and legs is to hard to pinpoint. as there are so many things that can cause this. EXample myofascial issues. (spelling)

did either of the 2 drs recommend any type of therapy or injections?? any type of pain managment???
after 2 opiniions neither one mentioned surgery. they usually don't if they find the issue does not warrent it.

there is a site we refer ppl to for MRI findings.
im not sure of that site, i imagine someone will come along and give that link to you. so your able to better understand the readings.
if i find it before someone else see's this i will post it for ya!!! ;)

    hang in there
    terri O:) O:) O:)
  • Hello and thankyou for your reply
I have had 6 blood tests and they are all normal and they show nothing.
My dr sent me to a infectious disease specialist and he said he thought i could have fibromyalgia but there was no test for it,my doctor told me that fibro was a condition of the mind..which i know is not as my friend has it.

I think i might go private to see a rheumotologist to see what they say as i have a lot of joint pain to.

    Thankyou again
