  • Good luck with your new PM.I don't blame you for wanting to change, and find another who won't be as insulting. Also the flouroscopy w/epidurals is important and even with that my PM hit a nerve.I'm glad he's not doing any more(to me).

    Good luck on the 3rd.
  • HELLO,

DO YOU GET YOUR MEDS FROM A PAIN MANAGEMNT DOCTOR OF REGULAR PRIMARY DOC.? IM ASKING BECAUSE I WAS WONDERING IF YOUR BOTTLE OF OXYCODONE WHICH ARE PERCOCET SAY 2 TIMES DAILY?

Because i take vicodane and didnt know i could take more than i thought. see some people think if it says every 6 hours it just means day time hours.

But my doctor told me i can take 4 a day . 1 every 6 hrs. or if it says 1 every 4 hrs. you can take 6 a day. But it depends how he wrote it. ask your pharmacy.

im prescribed vicodane hp 10mg and it says 1 every 6 hours on my prescription, It is for 100 pills and i can refill it every 25 days.

you may find you can take more if allowed only to help your severely painful days.[NEVER MORE THAN YOUR MAXIMUM DOSE] ALWAYS ASK YOUR DOCTOR!!

JUST CALL AND ASK WHAT YOUR MAXIMUM DAILY DOSE WOULD BE. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION.

And if your doc takes you off the patch most likely he should up your dose on the oxycodone, i would think so?

get some test done, some docs want to see you make an effort to find out whats going on, or they just plain stop the meds without results of somekind.

  • @) I was just explaing and asking how many times a day does it say on the prescription. i asked was it 2 times a day or every; for example 6 hours. only because i thought i was only allowed 2 a day also until my doctor told me four a day. meaning 1 pill every six hours, for pain as needed. Meaning i can take them at nite as well, Meaning my max prescribed dose is 4 PILLS A DAY,1 every 6hrs AS NEEDED for pain.

Maybe it came out wrong on the post but i would never tell someone to take more than prescribed.

I did write to ask the pharmacy. I just read my post i see what your saying Ron, But thats not the way i meant to interpetate it.

WHAT I Was trying to say was ask your pharmacy it depends how the doctor wrote your prescripion, That maybe he/she thinks there maximum dose is 2 x but may be 3 or 4 depending on the hourly dose.

    SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION.

Meaning myself i can take 4 vicodan a day but take 2 a day but when the pain is severe i take my maximum daily dose which is 4 a day.

    WOW IM TIRED

Ron did this one come out right? Its hard to explain i guess with a keyboard.

SPIRIT NOW, LISTEN TO RON AND ASK YOUR DOCTOR PLEASE. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION

  • Dawn,

My rx for norco 10/325-basically what you use less tylenol-is even weirder.

The bottle says (PRN)take as needed 1x every 6hrs on the bottle.

    NOW,

My contract says to take 1 every 4-6 hrs daily PRN aka as needed.Which is what we discussed, Now when I had my gout attacks, I had to use the norco's as my pain med(DR Rx'd) which resulted in a few days of every 4 hours which was 6 a day.I get 120 a month and my count was off, the following month and got chewed out for taking more than needed.I pulled out the contract and corrected him.Showed him the discrepancy and then he said follow the bottle, I was livid at the bait and switch at the time.So even when we think its right, it pays to recheck.

Now, I just realize that timing my meds is very important or I am left hurting.I wish he would just put me on a long acting to see if that resolves my peaks and valleys.
  • WOW YOUR'S WAS CONFUSING. I see what you mean. I never heard of pain management until i joined this forum. So thats why i asked SPIRITNOW above was he in pain management. because i read post and asked questions on this forum.
So i know the PM docs are strict with rules.[just from what i heard hear on [SH] MY PRIMARY DOC treats my pain but had cut back on stronger meds.He puts me on then off.

For instance he gave me percocet take every 4-6 hours as needed for pain. but i could take 6 a day if needed without a problem with a refill. But i dont have a contract with a PM doctor.

Boy did i learn a big lesson today on this thread. every doctor is different and i guess what the bottle say's doesnt neccesarly mean the content on the bottle. :/

Talk to you soon, FEEL BETTER,
