~X( I am a 39 yr.old flight attendant who was injured on the job 6/25/08. I did P/T for about six weeks with no success. I was refered to a spine specialist in August. MRI showed two areas C4-5, C6-7 ( I guess I am sayin that right). I am in pain and nothing has helped. Two cerivcal epidurals, 1 trigger piont which it hurting again, and 1 facet. None of these have helped me. On the 17th I had a cervical medial branch block to see if that was source of of my pain and if the next procedure (perminate blocking of the nerve) will help. I was in more pain after the procedure. My pain starts in my neck and goes down my right shoulder down my elbow into my pinky finger and I have discomfort under my right shouldar blade (trigger point). I am ready to scream. I have two little kids and I feel helpless and broke. I am glad I discovered this site to know I am not alone.

  • just thought i would say hi
im a 41 yr old letter carrier. i am 1 wk post op for level 2 acdf, i've had left shoulder and arm pain through elbow for the last 3 yrs i blamed the pain on my job since i hold up to 10 lbs in my arm 6 hrs a day.i have been a letter carrier for 15 yrs.last yr on vacation a wave knocked me into the beach and several days later arm pain got worse. had mri on shoulder and nothing was wrong. went a whole year dealt with the pain. whats another yr. was having stiffness in my neck in july 08 for about 5 days when the pain in my neck tripled. couldn't even sneeze or cough. went to doctor who wanted to give meds and pt and i said no something isnt right. demanded xrays and mri. wouldnt schedule mri unless i was complaining of arm pain. hello! 3 yrs of pain. got xray same day and was told probably wouldnt find anything and would be a while before i could get mri. low and behold doctor called within the hour and said i had ddd. and my mri is in 3 days. got mri and results were not good. herniation of c3-4, ddd c4-5, stenosis pressing on 50% of cord,2 large bone spurs, and was born with a narrow spinal column. went to 3 surgeons 1st was rude and arrogant,2nd was to do the surgery but ended up having surgery himself 3 days prior to mine, and the 3rd did my surgery on nov 13. level 2 acdf c3-c5 with plate and bone cadaver.woke up from surgery hungry and thirsty.was on vicoden for a few days since i got home. i take a half a pill if i need to. only have stiffness in th morning in shoulders and neck.( due to the position they put you in to operate) its tolerable. cant find a good position to sleep since i have a hard collar on. no matter how i sleep it causes me to snore real loud.all the old symptoms have gone away. no arm pain, hands have more sensitivity, come to find out for about a yr my legs were wobbly, and ached at the end of the day could barely walk. that is all gone. so far everything is looking positive and i plan to keep it that way. hope everything turns out good for everyone. bye for now!!
