  • I know it's one of those Want to know Don't Want to know situations but either way keep us updated.
  • Hi everyone,
after i had my mri done,i woke up the next morning and my neck was so sore and stiff ,the pain is awful.I've tried ice
wrap around my neck because it feels like its on fire all the time. That didn't seem to do much so i switched to heat.I started taking hot baths and soaking, that didn't do much either.I finally went and had a massage, that seemed to help the most but i can't keep going every couple of days it just too expensive. I really want to put my collar back on and say the heck with it but i know that probably is a bad idea.I don't want to lose the muscle strength that i've built up there again.I'm still taking pain meds. and muscle relaxants.Normally a muscle relaxant will knock me out for the night but my muscles are getting so tight that i'm still up half the night. This is starting to feel to familiar to how i used to be and i don't like it. • Any word on when your appointment might be? Any way you can get to a hot tub?

  • I REALLY over did it today and I'm paying for it. Percocet and vaium and heat and I getting zero relief today. C, do you think those back massagers like the ones you get at the drug store would be a bad idea? I don't want to do anything harmful but I'm at my wit's end today. Tammy I understand about the cost of back massages but oh what I wouldn't give for one right now.
  • :/ I was told my injury during car accident was "mostly muscular, probably not even severe enough to be called whiplash" Still going to Physical Therapy 2 months later with little improvement then MRI showed
"There are protruded osteophyte disc complexes at the
C4-5, C5-6 and C6-C7. There are small uncovertebral spurring at the
    C5-6 and the C6-C7"
Which I guess was there before the accident.
I am new and just starting to look for my answers. That being said...
I CAN say that the Physical Therapy has consistently improved my ROM and that they do electrical stimulation and ultrasound and massage that is very beneficial to the soreness/inflamation of the muscles in my neck/shoulders. And from what I understand most insurance companies will pay for the PT at least twice weekly

  • Well I can't say about the massage portion, because I can't handle any massages in my neck and shoulders. I had a PT tell me to put two tennis balls in a sock and use that like one of the massagers but I could never tolerate it. The best thing for me is moist heat.

  • well i did have a bulge at level C3-4 when i first started having trouble with my neck but through physical therapy i was lucky that at least that level did resolve. As use can see the other three levels didn't and there for the operation.I'm just hoping that C3-4 didn't herniate with the accident causing the symptoms that i have now.Should find out something very soon though. ;)
  • my gosh how long can it take to look at an mri and determine a problem.I've waited a week now to find out if there are any compressed nerves and still haven't heard a thing.i think i'm going to call again today and see if anyone has looked at it yet.they said that they wanted the mri done as soon as possible so i'm sure that they wanted the results that quickly as well.
