Here I go again all them darn shots in the neck and L.B nerve burn in the L.B and neck and went to another Dr. 2 weeks ago for more shots and now OH MY BACK!! I can't take this anymore. I am going nuts 8} I have spent so much money to these Dr's and was off of work due to another situation and if I go for an office visit it cost me $50 again. I am taking pain meds every day now. I can go for another shot and I know me I will because who can take this pain???? I went to the spine surgon only one and he told me I was not a person for surgery even tho I have 5 herniated dics in my L.B 3 in my neck and who in the heck knows about the middle. He said the reason why is because I am all full of arthritisis I can't spell worth a darn even when I am hurting and venting to you all. I was to have a appt. to get a spinal cord stimulator done and did not keep it thinking of a battery in me and all kinda freaked me out. I am lost here I just want to be out of pain!!! :''( Sorry for all this venting but, it does feel good. You know people who do not have back pain do not have a clue of what we all are going threw. I was thinking of a brace?? I think the Dr. can give you on or something I read about here. I am lost. I had the nerve burn done and was so happy being pain free and than in the hospital for 15 days and blam the back is back to square one. They give you so many drugs that you don't even know that the bed stinks for your back until you get home. Ok enough of me venting. Just needing some input. THanks

  • What pain meds are you on?

Have you ever tryed a TENS unit?

    Hold on.

  • I am taking oxycontin but, I can't stand this. It seems like all the meds I have tried make me feel sick to my stomach. I have tried the tens unit and nothing.

I thank you for your reply.

I reply to every post I read. It sometimes chaps my fannie to see how many people read posts and do not even say maybe Hang in their. Can you tell I am hurt. Well, I am sure it has to do with pain issue

  • I'm sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. I wish I had a magic wand to make it all go away for you. >:D< >:D<

Surely someone can get you the treatment you need?
  • I am so sorry you are in so much pain. I would get a second opinion. Just because you have arthritis, that can't mean you have to live in pain like this. He may just not want to touch it because of the arthritis. You might find a doc that is willing to. Just explore your options.
I'm guilty of not responding to every thread I read, but that's only because someone is asking questions about something I have no experience with. But with a post like yours where you are looking for some kind words, I am happy to respond. I know I like responses to my posts as well. :)

  • Maybe you should get a second, third, fourth opinion even. Just because one surgery doesn't want to help doesn't mean another won't. I'm sure there is someone out there who will. Put it this way... If there are docs out there that will operate on people, major surgeries, when they don't even need them... Then there are those who won't operate on those who do. It goes every which way. But there is a doctor out there who will help you, the key is finding them. Not always an easy task, but I would keep getting more and more opinions until you find one that sounds right to you and you are comfortable with.

I hope you find a doctor who is more sympathetic to your pain.

  • If you aren't comfortable with the doctor then find another. It's your life. You know you better than anyone else. As for the Spinal Cord Stimulator I've heard some really positive things about it here on this board so I will see if I can find the one person that I know who has personal experience with it and can at least be able to give you some first hand advice about it. And you are absolutely right. I have no back pain and I really can't relate except that I've watched too many family members and friends suffer needlessly because of it.
  • Maybe your Dr has given up on you but that doesn't mean you have to as well. I am sorry you are in so much pain and I know it is hard not to let it get to you.

Just hang in there till you can find a Dr that will take on your case.
    Blessings Sara O:)
  • Can you go and see a pain specialist?

I got several options to play with, knowing that side effects were likely to be an issue.

There are anti-sickness meds you can take and in fact, after a few days the nausea wore off and now I don't need the anti-sickness meds.
It is a trade off pian killers and side effects but it is worth a try. Don't give up.

Tramadol is worth a go and adding in paracetamol to opiate based meds all under supervsion.

    I use heat pads too.
No miracle cures but each one helps a teeny bit.
    Take care and keep strong.
  • Is a PM Dr. differnt than a Pain specialist? I will try that nausa med. that sounds good. Never thought of that. Thanks for the replies It really does help. >:D< to you all
