Lumbar Rol

Can using a lumbar roll really make a big difference? I started PT on Monday and was given a lumbar roll. Some of the pain has actually disappeared. I'm shocked that something this simple could make that much of a difference?
I am still getting some pain in my legs, ankles and feet, still getting numb toes, but the pain in my butt has actually gone away. But, now I notice more hip pain. Just wondered if this is a concidence and I am having a better than average day. I have been having issues since September and finally went to the doctor in Janaury when it got to the point that I hurt all over and could not sit or stand for long.
