morphine pump implant

What can I expect from a morphine pump implant?
My Doctor recently tried to implant a Spinal Cord Stimulator but he could not get the wire leads positioned correctly due to epidural adhesions and calcifications. He is now sending me to another Doctor to evaluate a morphine pump implant.

Does anybody have the pump implant, and what can I expect?
Could I still do a hard days work or bounce around a little and have the cath stay in place?
What questions should I ask the Doctor, will I get better PM than the oral meds oxycont, hydrocodine, lyrica, ectodolac, tizanidine?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • Welcome Rancherbill,

I am not familiar with the pump but I'm all to familiar with adhesion's. You may find more information under the Pain Management section of this forum.

Did your doctor suggest a brand? Google Medtronics as they are one company that has this product. I am not recommending this product but find their site has some good information.

Good luck with your research and keep us updated if you can.

    Take care of you
