Does anyone have stabbing and shooting pain under the arm? This pain shoots completely down my arm and into my hand.

  • If I shut off my SCS I get it quite horribly.

  • What is your SCS?:?

  • Neurostimulator, Dorsal Spine Stimulator, Spinal Cord Stimulator.

Tis my internal electronics that allow better management of my pain.

  • I seen pictures of those at the doctors office. So does it really help you?

    Thanks for your response!
  • I have that, it starts at the armpit and travels down under the arm to my elbow. Mine is nerve pain and I will always have it. The neurontin helps a lot, I would hate to think what it would be like without the neurontin.

  • I had my surgery about 10 years after my accident. I was rear ended at a very high rate of speed but felt ok and never got it checked out. Had what I thought were cricks in my neck on and off for several years. The arm pain started and it was 2 years after that pain that I had surgery. By the time I was seen by an ortho spine specialist my neck was in horrible shape. He said it was one of the worse cases he had ever seen. He also could not believe that my neck did not hurt that much....I guess I just got use to it over a period of time. I did wait too long and that is why I have the nerve damage. I never knew that arm pain was a symptom of something wrong with the neck. My pcp at that time told me my arm pain was due to stress. Gee was I an idiot or what?????

  • I believe if i don't argue with these doctors they are going to let me suffer.

I have had headaches for a month straight. The last three days I have had what I think is migraines. I just fed up. I want some relief.
  • My physical therapist has two herniated disc in his neck and said as long as you can keep your disc off the nerves there should be little to no damage. But you could get nerve damamge very fast depending on how hard the nerve is being pushed. He has nerve damage to his right arm due to the nerve being compressed for only two weeks.

The underarm pain is usually from your c7-t1 disc. There are some nerve charts floating around somewhere in the forum. I am sure someone can find one and post it soon. The headaches are likely from muscle spasms. I've been able to control mine with exercise, good stretching, accupuncture, and muscle relaxers. I am looking into taking a pilates class for the stretching. I've heard it's great for back sufferers.

  • That is the discs that is the worst in my neck. They say according to the MRI that their is no disruption to the nerve. I have a lot of symptoms pointing to that. I will try to put all the information from my MRI on here on Monday. i have actually had pain in my arm for 5 or 6 years. It would come and go so I would not pay attention to it, except when it would hurt. When it got consistant and I couldn't sleep at night from it hurting so bad in my shoulders, that was when I started realizing something was wrong.

Did your headaches throb at the temples and you couldn't stand noise or light?
  • Although I am fused C4-C7 a recent myelogram showed no nerve problems. I almost always have that shooting pain from under my arm down to my elbow. A EMG/NCV showed denervation at C6. I always wake up to a headache, starts where my neck and head are connected. Recently had a sleep study done and that showed I had sleep apnea which could be the reason for the headaches. Who knows. Seems that when you have neck problems everything in the body is disrupted.
