hi i have being having bad pain in my left shoulder and shoulder blade also in my left armpit and chest and down my ribs ive being to my doc and had an x-ray which was clear i have this pain 8months now and my doc reckons its muscle pain

  • Have you had an MRI? After all this time your Dr needs to order it for you. Are you taking muscle relaxants? Do you remember when the pain started? After lifting or reaching? I hope they order another test for you and find out what's going on. Take care. Charry
DDD of lumbar spine with sciatica to left hip,leg and foot. L4-L5 posterior disc bulge with prominent facets, L5-S1 prominent facets with a posterior osteocartilaginous bar. Mild bilateral foraminal narrowing c-spine c4-c7 RN
  • That could be muscle pain, could be neck problems from where the nerves exit the spine too. I'd ask for more complete testing such as an MRI. Did you have an accident or other specific incident that led up to this?

That could also be a sign of Thoracic outlet syndrome, but there are a lot of things that could be causing this type pain.

You can see what nerves travel where by searching online for a Dermatome chart. It will lead you to at least see where the nerves that go to specific areas come from.
