Hi All:

I am four weeks out from ACDF tomorrow (C4/C5) with disk fragmentation.

I was interested in what I can do to further prevent Disc Degeneration? Is there any type of regimen I can undertake to "rehydrate" the discs?

Degenerative Disc Disease is probably the most mis understood of spinal aliments. In reality DDD is the natural aging of our spines. You might see it referred to as the 'graying' of our spine, the same thing that happens to our hair.
Almost everyone by the time they are 30 will show some signs of DDD. It can happen sooner and more severe due to
a- Trauma b- Surgeries and c- Genetic reasons.
Most of the DDD cases never require surgery. Only the real severe cases do. Through an approved exercise program and NSAIDs, most people should be able to manage their DDD.
