I have a 2 herniated discs at L4-L5 & L5-S1. I have been in pain about six months now and for the last few months I have been unable to walk/stand for more than a minute.
I saw a orthopaedic specialist recently and he has advised me to try out nerve root blocks, and then if that fails surgery.
I just got my NHS appointment through and it is 4 MONTHS after my appointment. I am told this is a 10-minute procedure and could enable me to function again.
Is this correct? 4 months to wait? Is there any way to speed things up? I'm just in total shock that I'm going to have to endure this pain for so much longer due to our inefficient health system.
My girlfriend is from a foreign country and her dad had a nerve root block, he had his done 3 days after his specialist appointment, and it cost about £50. What are my options for having this done abroad?
