It is great that you have found Spine Health, but new members who want to post should create their own thread in the New member Introduction section. Posts made here will probably get lost.

You will get much better response if you do this.

You should be creating your own thread to ask the same thing you are asking here. You will get better responses from a thread you create. This thread was mostly for instructional purposes.

Look at our FAQ. There are many tips and hints on how to get started on Spine-Health and how to make your thread effectively and get the better responses.

  • Hi Catherine, I'm sorry that I don't have an input on your question. Welcome to spine-health :). I do think that if you post this as a topic you'll get more people who will be able to add their input. Kiki

I am new to the site. I was recently told that I need ACF surgery on 3 - 7 disk. I am suppose to have a second opinion done on July 15th and surgery on the 17th if the second opinion agrees with the first. They are telling me the surgery will probably be about 4 hours long and I will be in the hospital 2 days counting the day of the surgery. They said I will probably be off work for 6 to 8 weeks. I have had neck pain that goes down my shoulder and my hand is tingly all the time. I recently was told I have bells palsy on the same side.because my jaw and cheek are tingly also. I wonder if that could be because of the disk problems. I also get light headed pretty often. They say that doesn't have anything to do with the disk. Most of the post I read are for one or two disk and not 4. I am a little concerned by some of the things I have read, but I hope I am doing the right thing. I will keep everyone posted on my progress.

1st post... new visitor... 1 MRI diagnosis was Benign Nerve Tumor... Neurologist ordered MRI with contrast... no Tumor... but needed Lumbar Laminectomy for Fractured Vertebrae... Was concerned about 1st diagnosis vs. final diagnosis... and now need to schedule Lumbar Laminectomy. Dr said overnight hospital stay and return to work at 4 hour intervals. Estimated recovery 6 to 8 weeks. I read that recovery can vary for some up to months or year. My QU is... B4 I schedule surgery any advice from experienced patients? My Neurologist has told me my back is the coolest he has ever seen untreated scoliosis with deformed vertebrae... especially considering how active and fit I am. He asked if he could share my films with students and I said yes!
  • Hi I want to introduce myself. I have had seven spinal fusions with plates rods pacers etc. I also had my left knee replaced and they want to do the right but I am not ready for surgery again. I am having cataracts removed soon which thank goodness is not like it was years ago. I have also had three hand surgeries way back in the early 90s. I have chronic pain and over the years have had a few pain specialists as a matter of fact next month I am seeing a new one he is 36 I hope he has some new ideas my last doctor went back to just anesthesia because he is part of a medical group that felt he was just breaking even.
