low back nerve pain scary stuff going on. please help

I am absolutely in agony. To summarize starting in August I started experiencing a great deal of low back, coccyx, buttocks, groin pain. The onset of symptoms also included leg pain. FFwd to now: I am experiencing so much pain same areas as I mentioned but the leg pain has diminished and now I also have left pelvic, abdomen and some chest pains. I am also having severe pain in my thoracic spine as well. I had surgery on Dec. 26th. for ovarian cyst removal and removal of adhesions which I had a lot of adhesions matted in pelvis and abdomen. It hurts so much when I sit, I cannot drive any long distances and I am completely out of work now (house-cleaner). The SCARIEST SYMPTOM I have is I have been unable to have a b.m. for over 4 weeks unless I take a laxative, and keep getting urinary tract infections. I think one of the nerves in my sacral region is impinging, causing this terrible pain. I tried to explain to my doctor that this is not just a case of constipation, as my movements are not normal, like something is compressing that area. I need to see him monday at 9:00 and I am hoping he will listen to my concerns, on the phone he was hesitant to order more tests. I have had a pelvic cat scan that shows herniated discs in the L4-L5 area, an mri of the same area was read as bulging discs with some mild end plate narrowing. I think the reason the radiologists couldn't find nerve impingments was because the mri did not go down to my saccrum/cocyx area. I know there are nerve roots there including nerves from pelvis such as pudendal nerve, pelvis splanchnic. This past summer I got a dirt bike and I thought that maybe riding on that very uncomfortable seat was somehow the reason I had such severe pain. If anyone could help me with your thoughts, suggestions or knowledge would be so appreciated. I am so scared that I cannot go the bathroom and I feel like my body is going through to much. I am scared what is going to happen and it is taking so long to find out. I think I need an mri of my low back with sacrum/coccyx and maybe the thoracic spine. I think I also need to find an orthopedic spine specialists.
I need so much help. Thoughts?

  • You absolutely need to see an orthopedic spine specialist, or even neuro surgeon. Are you currently on pain medication? It can cause consitipation, and sometimes it much worse on some people. Maybe even adjusting medication could help you out.
