Numbness, twitching and pain in the upper part of my left leg

I've been dealing mild numbness in the upper part/thigh of my left leg for the past years after heavy snow shavelling back 2000. For this, I've been taking Gabapentine 100 mg. four times a day and doing good without any nerve issue in the leg.

However, for the past week, I feel 'numbness' combined with 'twitching, in the upper part of my left leg, particularly early morning after getting up from the bed. Also, there is mild pain in the knee of the same leg.

Just wonder whether my 'nerve' in the upper thigh of my left leg started to progree from mild to moderate that needs more aggressive med. regimen to alleviate it? Or, my older age has something to do with it?

Your imputs on this would be truly appreciated.
