New Member - Back Pain Chronic

I am a new member to the forum and looking for advice.

I have multiple herniated/bulging discs in Thoracic and Lumbar spine that are causing severe pain. I was in a car accident 2 years ago and have been living in pain since. I have had multiple (approx 8 ESI injections) at various levels and with each injection i seem to get less and less relief. How many steroid injections are considered too many?

After two years of dealing with this i feel like i need to demand surgery. I know that surgery is a last resort and at this point i feel like i am there. I am unable to work for the first time in my life, my kids are really feeling like i am not as involved in their lives as i used to be because i am in constant pain, and my husband keeps saying that he feels like i am not happy anymore. It's not only taking its toll on me its affecting every aspect of my life.

Looking for relief...

  • I am on day 25 of barely being able to walk, difficulty getting myself dressed or performing just the simplest normal daily tasks, and worrying about having to live like this forever. I really could use some words of encouragement from those who have been where i am now.

My family and friends just don't understand what i am going through. I wish they would just support me emotionally instead of constantly quizzing me about what are the doctors going to do, or when i am going to get well enough to go back to my normal routine. I know they just dont understand what i am going through. I feel like after two years of this, they think if it were really that bad the doctors would have already "fixed" it. Most don't understand that we have to follow what the doctors recommend, weather its another steroid injection, another round of physical therapy, different medicines, etc. I am doing everything i can within my power to get better its just not happening.

I have an appointment with a surgeon next week and am hoping/praying that at this point they are able to state i am a good candidate for surgery.
