  • Welcome! Lots of great information shared here from what I've seen in the short time I've been here.

  • I just read your profile - you kinda make me feel guilty for being here but most people here have intractable pain and a lot of members have had multiple operations.

So I'm sure even if no-one has all the operations you have undergone people will have had experience with at least one of them. I like this site as it's focused on spine pain mainly - than the other sites that have every condition under the sun.

There are also a lot of different personalities on this site. Pain doesn't discriminate. But just having people around who understand when no-one else can feel your pain, I've had this for 8 nearly 9 years now and have friends with chronic illnesses but I think spine pain is so different - I know they don't understand - my family doesn't really get it either so it can be isolating.

I really think it is therapeutic to blog with other people who are in constant intractable pain. I think most of us get depressed at times, you would have to be kinds crazy if this stuff didn't make you depressed. To go through as much as you have takes incredible guts - I admire you for just getting through it.

In fact really most people here have incredible guts - it does take courage to keep going. I know intractable pain has changed the way I think - it has been my 'disorientating dilemma' if you are into psychology. Don't know if it has made me a better person and honestly still can't put a positive spin on physical pain.

It just sucks but it makes me feel better to write about it to people who understand as no-one wants to listen to me talking about spine pain - so I can do it here and not be told 'dry your eyes princess.' My central nervous system is damaged and that is pain like I have never ever felt before.

So hope you get some useful information - I have - some has been really simple stuff that no Drs have ever discussed with me, but some of the strategies I have learnt here have really helped. To have a smile on your face even if it's through pain, shows you already know how to cover. I'm pretty good in the fake smile through pain stuff as well.
