Leg and foot going numb

I have a L5/S1 buldge and sciatica now for 5 months. I've been to PT and chiro with no results. I have done my best to take it easy, but just recently my leg and foot are going numb. Is this a sign that the nerve is being damaged, things getting worse or what?! I can't get in to see the specialist for another 3 weeks.
