Hello! Ive just joined and needed to vent!
Hi there, where do i start, i was born with a dermoid cyst inside my spine which was stuck to my nerves causing extreme pain, i had surgery at the age of 11 which was successful for roughly 9 years when the cyst re-grew. I suffered the pain for tears without telling anyone as i knew it would ultimately leas to further surgery. After exhausting all other avenues and taking as strong painkillers as my gp and i were comfortable with, i was ref back to my neurosurgeon.
I was admitted on 15.10.14 for surgery the following day and thens when my life turned up side down! Basically ended up with meningitis as CSF was flowing out of my back wound which stopped it from healing, went back to theatre to have a lumbar drain put in to divert the CSF to let my wound heal, didn't work so had to get an EVD put into mu brain! This eventually did start to work and they tested the number of white blood cells in my CSF everyday, i was on 9 bags on IV anbx a day for three weeks! After all this i had to go back into surgery for debridement of the original wound! Was finally discharged on 1.12.14 7 weeks later! Exhausted!
So I'm still off work as I'm having issues with mobility and serious bladder incont which despite input from cont nurses doesnt seem to be improving! Im so fed up and completely exhausted! Even if i knew y the exhaustion was there might make it easier to cope with but its driving me mad! I can walk about 1 mile and i am seriously shaking and completely done!!!!
Has anyone else had any similar issues? If so how dis u cope/treat these?
Thank u all! Xox
