4 level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion

I have been diagnosed by a neurologist in St. Augustine, FL and followed up by a neurosurgeon from Jacksonville, FL as having 3 collapsed disks in my neck, and in need of a 4 level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion with plate.  I need any information from those of you in this group who have already undergone this surgery, and if it helped you get rid of the many symptoms that are related to this neck problem.  The neurosurgeon who I saw only does 1 of these surgeries a year, and seems a bit ambivalent about doing this surgery for me.  I also need some names of doctors who may specialize in this type of surgery in the Jacksonville, FL area.  Should I get a referral to go to [edit] to have this done?  Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.  I am 58 years old, and have spent a great deal of time having lumbar surgeries in the past, and am now in need of this cervical surgery.  Thank you in advance.

  • My suggestion is to seek other medical opinions ! You should seek specialist that only do what your condition consist of and ask questions. There are many specialty hospitals that you can go too.

Good Luck in your search !
