Strangulation feeling with bone growth stimulator?

Dear Cervical Fusion Patients. I had a C5-6, C6-7 fusion on May 16. It is now July 31. Every time I reduce pain meds, which is constant now, because meds are significantly reduced, I have a horrible strangulation experience. It feel like someone is successfully choking me, patially cutting off my airway, and pressing their thumb hard against the front of my throat while a hard mass is stuck in my throat. I was terrified at first, and the NP at my neurosurgeon's office told me it was likely psychological. Then I saw how many people experience this after a Cervical fusion.on this forum (thank you so much for the reassurance!). And my PT confirmed this sensation as VERY common. My question is: do those who have this experience also use a bone growth stimulator??? I do, and I'm wondering if this horrible sensation could be due to the inflammation to promote healing caused by the bone growth stimulator???
