Leg pain and cramps consistently

I am 65, female and have had 2 RFA's to S-1, L-2, L3 L-4, with some relief, for almost 2 yrs. each. Just have a fusion in C-4 & 5, now I am weaning off MS Contin, down to 15mgdaily from 30, 3x daily.I have started to experience severe leg pain all the time, with calf and shin cramps during the night that awaken me. I believe that for 5 yrs.now, the Morphine has kept me from this. Now, the RFA's have worn off and I believe I may need back sugery for stenosis, buldging discs, degenerative disc disease, and scoliosis, any one have similar problems and what should I do?

Wow, you have a lot going on! When I had my sciatica issues, I had what I described as a charleyhorse that wouldn't go away. My TENS unit helped. I eventual had a microdiscectomy and it resolved the pain. Have you spoken to your doctor about it?

  • Hello

m sorry you are going through pains -- so am I -- maybe we both can find answers

I have had 3 years of constant spasms in both calves. No one could figure out what I have -- thought might be form diabetes or RLS -- tried everything. My doc sent me to have a nerve test and that showed i has L5 S1 issues. Fast forward 6 month doing PT with NO help p[ains have gotten 100x worse - I went to see a pain specialist who did a epidural in my L5 but it didn't help AT ALL. when to a spine surgeon and he tells me --- MY 3 BULGING DISC AND PINCHED NERVE IS ONLY ON MY RIGHT SO MY TWO LEGS ARE NOT COMING FORM MY BACK. .... what??/!!!????!!! so now im confused ... I really thought surgery would be my answer to stop them extremely painful sa[asms that i get all day everyday. Im living on vicodin tizanidine robaxin valuum  ...  one doc saying this the other saying that....

  • I have also been experiencing INTENSE calf spasms--sometimes they wake me up during the night, other times they cut me a break and wait until first thing in the morning.  It feels like my bones are going to break!  I had fusion from L4-S1 8 months ago, but am wondering why these spasms have become so much worse lately...
