How to get through Recovery

I had major spine surgery two weeks ago and my doctor told me to be s couch potatoe for 6 weeks and only go up and down the stairs once a day. I'm having a hard time staying still on the couch and not tossing and turning all night.

Can your doctor give you something to help you sleep? Your doctor said only up and down the stairs once a day but can you get up and walk around? I had a microdiscectomy in June and while not major surgery compared to others, I made sure I got up and walked around a few times a day initially. Best of luck in your recovery!

What type of spine surgery did you have?   With even some of the more drastic spinal surgeries, doctors tell their patients not to just lay around.  Its important to get up and walk around, not over do it, but some activity.

But since your doctor told you differently, we are in no way challenging what their said, so listen to your doctor.   But I would ask him at your next chance when you think you could do a little more.
