From some interesting information about them:

The Blue Angels were named in 1946 after the original team went to New York and read about the city’s famous Blue Angel nightclub in the New Yorker. However, the Thunderbirds adopted their name from Indian culture. Some believe the Thunderbird was a giant eagle; others saw it as a hawk. But when the bird took to the sky, the earth trembled from the thunder of its wings.

The Blue Angels performed its first flight demonstration in 1946 flying the Grumman F6F Hellcat in Jacksonville, Fla.

  • Watching it on satelite all day........in between housework. :) :)
  • Had a naval air station nearby when I was a kid. It was always the "Ble Angels" that I got to see. Thanks for the trivia bit, Ron.
