Kyphosis Video: What is Kyphosis?
This interactive video explains what kyphosis is, and how it affects your spinal anatomy.
Kyphosis is an unnatural curving of the upper back that creates a hunched over posture or humpback appearance. Kyphosis is sometimes called "dowager's hump”. There are several causes of this deformity, including:
- Poor posture
- Physical damage to the spine from an accident or other trauma
- Diseases, most commonly osteoporosis, Scheuermann's disease, Pott's disease, and spinal tumors.
